THE CHALLENGE
What is ACT?
ACT is the official authority for working conditions in Portugal and has useful online forms for employers and employees.
Why use it as a study case?
While using the end of contract simulator myself, I realised that there were several implementations that could be made to improve the website experience and make it more accessible to all users.
Initial Struggles:
The form itself wasn't ready to support mobile devices, the accessibility tools that were implemented didn't work properly, and navigation easily became a struggle.

What is happening right now?
After conducting real-life tests with users and a survey to evaluate the impact of this project, it was noticed that the majority of the users did not found the already-existing solution hard to navigate, because most of the users phone screens were bigger than the one I use for testing.
My own experience and frustrations came from the phone on left - iPhone 15 Pro but most users had a better experience based on their average Android screen sizes (phone on the right).
In the graphic above we can see that 66,67% of users were considering their navigation enjoyable (4 out of 6 voted more that 3), which was far beyod the experience I had.
These results led me to question their perspectives and so I tested the ACT page on different phone screens - including another iPhone 15 ProMax, with a screen size similar to the Android, having the same issues I had, but with smaller impact.
The prototype bellow is being upated at this very moment (since 05th april 2025), having in mind the most recent conclusions taken from the data on this survey.
Major implementations emerged with these tests and now are being currently worked at.
